Here is a simple way to use props to spice up your preschool gymnastics warm up.
Using foam blocks you give the kids something to focus on and help engage them in the activities you are asking them to do — this video by Jam Hops Gymnastics gives a few great ideas to get you started!
The options are limitless — you could…
- practice tossing the cubes up and catching them
- locomoting in many ways around the cubes (gallop, bear walk, crab walk, hop on one foot, etc.)
- working together to build a tower (and then knocking it over of course!)
- jumping with the block between your feet
- holding the cube while trying some sit ups
- log rolls holding the cube over head
- so many more options — seriously — we could brainstorm for ages!
