This time of year is so fun – the kids have tons of energy and they are full of excitement for the upcoming holidays!
Winter themes are super versatile.
If your gym’s demographic is excited about Frozen, it’s easy to adapt the theme by tossing in a few Olafs, Annas, Elsas and such to make that happen.
If your gym’s demographic celebrates Christmas (the Santa kind, at least) then it’s easy to add in some classic Christmassy things like candy canes, santa hats, reindeer, elves and so on.
But at it’s simplest – a Winter theme celebrates the changing of seasons.
I loved making Winter Theme Week all about snow – in all it’s forms!
- Snowflakes
- Snow people
- Snow angels (great for teaching star jumps, btw!)
- Snow cones
- Snow forts
- Snow balls (and fights!)
- …and anything else you can come up with!
Don’t forget you can incorporate how we dress in winter. Things like scarves, mittens, toques, and boots all make excellent props & decor!
You can even weave in how kids play in Winter Snow too – like tobogganing, skating, skiing, etc.
Have fun with it!
Check out these 5 ideas from the preschool gymnastics community to get you started (and inspired!):
1. Set up a Tobogganing Hill!
2. Leading the Sleigh, Push the Present, Slider Skating + More!
Be sure to click or swipe through ALL the videos here – the stations just get better and better!
3. Snow Builders and Grinches!
This is an AWESOME winter themed twist on the classic game of Builders + Bulldozers.
4. Snowball Squeeze!
Help kids figure out how to keep their legs together as they bring their toes up to the bar by squeezing a snowball between them!
5. Slider Skating!
Free skate, skating dance party, or even set up a skating race track to follow – it’s all fun! 🙂
(And if you don’t have sliders… paper plates, scrap paper and frisbees work too!)
There you go! Have a happy Winter Theme Week everyone!
