Creative Conditioning Ideas!

If you already follow us on instagram, you’ll see that I love sharing the creative ways that coaches & clubs make conditioning a little more fun, interactive or engaging.

I thought I’d compile a handful of those recently shared awesome ideas and put them in one place for quick reference, with a few ideas that sparked my own imagination for how to add a variation or two to each othem.

Check ’em out!

I love this one for the motor skill & spatial awareness aspect.  Simple variations could be to change up the prop (i.e. balloons, balls, foam cubes, etc).  If you don’t have a barrel, maybe a box or even a smaller bin hoisted up on a block could work.   I think it could be fun to try this in the reverse with some changes. So instead of a barrel, there could be a platform in front of them to collect the bean bags from there and then drop them into a hoop or container below them.

Such a classic!!  This one can be done on p-bars (or two blocks set up like p-bars) too!  The bean bags can be anything — we like to use “pancakes” (poly spot markers) to see how many we can fit on our “plate” in front of us 🙂  This can be an easy partner activity provided the partner can reach. I like having the little kindergymmers count as they place them on their partner’s lap to practice their numbers!

Kids are gold mines for creative ideas so I love that they actually made this one up themselves!  I’m inspired to challenge the gymnasts a little more… I’m sure if I gave them a yoga ball and said “come up with an exercise that works on on arms & core” they could come up with some great stuff (or at least a starting point, LOL).

Love it.  I’ve done a whole post on partner conditioning, so be sure to check that out for even more ideas!
